Hearts For Hue Newsletter in 4,5,6 2015

Welcome to Hearts for Hue April, May and June 2015 Newsletter.

First of all, we would like to wish all of you good health, happiness and success.

Disability support program. In April 2015, a delegation of US Veterans for Peace (VFP) Chapter 160 visited projects for families affected by Agent Orange in A Luoi mountainous areas, Thua Thien Hue province as part of their Vietnam trip. The project was totally funded by VFP, which supports the construction of cow shelters and fodder bins and provides training in care, materials for cattle feed and veterinary care in partnership with Hearts For Hue(H4HF) and Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry. Hearts For Hue is very glad to announce that VFP has continued to fund USD 4,000 for this on-going project. See more

In May 2015, Hearts for Hue collaborated with the local Red Cross in Huong Van district, Thua Thien Hue province to launch a new program named “Piglet program” with the support of four disabled families. This project was initially funded by Mr. Neil Hannan – an American Veteran, Ms. Ann and family, Mr. Alex and Ms. Mary – Australian volunteers with total fund of USD 230. See more

The D.O.V.E Fund approved funding of USD3,063 for Thua Thien Hue Social Center to develop a duck-raising project with the goal of improving the Living Conditions of mentally ill patients of the center. The fund will be used to buy 100 ducks and will also be used for training and management fees. The center will also contribute USD500 for duck coop construction. According to the plan, the duck coop will be completed by July and after that the patients, with assistance of the staff, will start to raise the first ducks. See more

Community service program. We collaborated with Singapore Management University (SMU) to end the program in April and May 2015 with great success. Four groups of more than 80 SMU students, under the assistance of Hearts For Hue team, came to Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam to conduct four different projects. The volunteers focused on fence construction for kindergarten, teaching English and life skills for children and cooking daily lunch. In this program, SMU volunteers contributed a total of US12,545 for the construction costs. Hopefully, H4H will call upon more groups of volunteers coming to do community service in Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam in the near future. See more

Microfinance program. In June 2015, two French students, Ms.Clara and Ms.Isaure, visited our Micro-finance program of Hearts For Hue. They are running an exciting project where they travel to countries around the world visiting different Micro-finance projects by bicycle. After the trip, they plan to raise funds for micro-finance projects for Hearts For Hue and Anh Chi Em – a project of a French NGO named Entrepreneurs du Monde (EdM). See more

We are very pleased to announce that the Bamboo project will collaborate with us to run community volunteering projects throughout Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam. This community project is designed for groups of international travellers who are keen on volunteering and community service. They will travel to Hue, Vietnam within The Bamboo Project tour and take part in community volunteering work for 4-5 days in the locality. See more
